Some fungi exude droplets of liquid in a process called "guttation." The types of fungi that do this are sometimes so specific that guttation can be a good ID clue. The droplets can be colored or colorless, depending on the chemical makeup of the droplets. Bleeding Oak Crust Fungus gets its name from the fact that its droplets are often red. But in Photos 8 and 9, you will notice that the drops are not colored.
